Train To Teach Testimonials and Partners

What Our Trainees Say

Here’s what some of our trainees who trained on the School Direct programme to date have to say about our School Direct training programme:

“From as early as my initial interview with the Delta I felt encouraged by their ethos and interpretation of the School Direct Programme. As a career changer, having spent the last 5 years working in event management and hospitality, I found it a challenge to fulfil all the criteria to be considered for other training routes. The Delta however prioritised my drive and passion for teaching above the amount of classroom experience I had obtained. They are looking for candidates with the potential to become outstanding teachers.

The training is in depth, varied and highly relevant as it is delivered by existing teachers within the Trust. I feel as though the programme has been tailored to meet my every individual need on my journey into teaching and I am enjoying every moment!”

Laura James

“I started with Delta Academies Trust as a student volunteer in 2014 and was quickly employed as a TA. I was encouraged to pursue my career even further and train to be a teacher. Throughout my PGCE year, I have received only the best advice, support and experiences that I could ever have wished for. Having nearly completed my training through the School Direct route, I feel that Delta, Sheffield Hallam University and my placement schools have provided and encouraged me to develop the knowledge, skills and practice that I require to be an effective and inspirational teacher. I would highly recommend taking the school direct route and being part of the Delta family. Honestly, it is an intense but very rewarding year”.

Carmen Drury

“I joined the School Direct programme with Delta in September 2013. Two months into my placement and I found the whole experience very enjoyable. The staff in school were very helpful and insightful. I learnt a great deal from being in school, and knew where to go if I encountered any problems. I would whole heartedly recommend students, who want to embark in the world of teaching, to apply for a Delta school.”

Ryan Hall

“After spending 11 years within a secondary school, it wasn’t until I joined a DELTA academy that I decided the teaching was the career for me. I was privileged to work with an amazing team of professionals who placed the children at the heart of everything they did. This was the inspiration I needed to join the profession.

The School Direct programme is an excellent route if you want to become a teacher. There is endless support from mentors and the teachers you are fortunate to work with. They are dedicated professionals that endeavour to support you in any way they can and to help you be successful.

Not only do you get on the job training, there is training provided by the Alliance and University. Every training session is designed to ensure that we have the tools and skills to make us successful.

I feel that I have grown not only as a professional but personally as well. I have trained with an amazing group of individuals. We support each other and we are always on hand to offer advice or just to use as a sounding board for any concerns. I couldn’t have asked for a better route into teaching, which is why I would highly recommend choosing Delta Academy Trust if you are interested in becoming a teacher”.
