Andy Gaunt

Andy joined the Trust in 2018 when his academy converted to an academy to join Delta.

Andy has taught for many years and has a background in sports. Teaching in Leeds with responsibility for PE and Extra Curricular before moving on to Lower Key Stage 2 Co-ordinator, Andy then tried his hand at co-ordinating ICT before settling within an Assistant Headteacher role.

Andy then made the move to Bradford as Deputy Headteacher before taking up post as Headteacher at Greengates Primary School, the role changing to Principal as the school converted to Academy status.

Andy would say his strengths and expertise lie in PE, ICT and outdoor learning. Andy completed his NPQH in 2006 and his experience in primary really benefits the Trust.

An average day for Andy is many a varied thing! From paperwork to lesson visits to discussing handwriting with children to talking about football scores with year 6 at lunch time! There's no score Andy can't recount! Back to the day job and there's plenty of emails to send, meetings and CPD to oversee and generally making sure his staff and children are OK.

Outside of work, it comes as no surprise that Andy's hobbies are active! When he's not watching football, he's coaching junior football, watching live music, camping, attending music festivals and mountain biking!

When asked "Why Delta?", Andy says that the collaborative nature of all the schools is fantastic; sharing ideas, sharing resources and sharing the workload really make the job a lot easier.
