Students and staff of De Lacy Academy are celebrating today after receiving another set of exceptional GCSE results.
The number of pupils gaining a standard pass in English and maths has risen once again, this year by 11% meaning that 73% of students achieved this benchmark. The number achieving a strong pass at Level 5 and above has also increased to 39%.
Results in GCSE English were particularly impressive this year, 97% of students passed their English GCSE and 85% achieved a grade 5 or above; a fantastic achievement and by far the best English results in the history of the school.
Principal Chris McCall said ‘I am absolutely delighted with these results which reflect the hard work put in by both students and staff and the excellent support we receive from parents. These results reflect the improving life chances of young people in Knottingley and they are thoroughly deserved. They are an indication of the strong teaching and individual support we provide for our students. The results are excellent across many, many subjects and reflect the sustained high performance of De Lacy Academy.
Congratulations and well done to all our Year 11 students. Their success is very well deserved.’
Paul Tarn, Chief Executive of Delta Academies Trust said:
I am delighted at these results and as well as congratulating students and staff, I would also like to thank parents, carers and the Academy Advisory Body for their support.
De Lacy is a very high performing academy and thanks to the new building and investment programme, the building will now reflect the brilliant education delivered at De Lacy by Principal Chris McCall and his team.
