St Wilfrid’s Academy support DfE in promoting wave 15 of free schools

St Wilfrid’s Academy are incredibly proud to be showcasing their good practice as part of the Department for Education’s recent announcement to expand the number of Alternative Provision and Special free schools across the country. The DfE selected the academy for their promotional video, which was released across social media in conjunction with the announcement of wave 15 of free schools, including up to 60 new AP and special schools.

St Wilfrid’s Academy is one of 20 DfE Task Force pilot schools across the country, bringing integrated services together to support students and families across the borough. The taskforce at SWA includes a youth justice worker, early help co-ordinator, lead family practitioner, speech and language therapist, mental health counsellor and post-16 transition worker, who have already carried out work and interventions with 150 pupils since November 2021.
