The Department for Education has confirmed plans for the second phase of its edtech demonstrator programme.

Guidance published today gives more details of the scheme, including a list of 44 “demonstrator” schools and colleges, and how funding will be allocated and spent.

Crookesbroom Primary Academy, part of Delta Academies Trust, which was involved in phase 1 has remained a demonstrator.

The amount of funding awarded to demonstrator schools “will depend on the number and type of schools they will support as well as the type, level and intensity of the support they will offer”, the DfE said.

But the programme is not designed to support schools to buy new IT infrastructure “or pay for marketing materials”.
