Goole student has composition performed by BBC Concert Orchestra

Congratulations to Year 10 student, Isaac, who has recently had his composition ‘7:01’ debut by the BBC Concert Orchestra as part of the BBC Proms. Isaac has also secured a place studying composition at the Royal Northern College of Music junior department.

The concert featured six new works by the winners of the BBC Young Composer 2021 competition, who are currently being supported and mentored by Dobrinka Tabakova and Gavin Higgins. The works have been commissioned on the theme of “BBC 100, celebrating 100 years of the BBC.”

Julian Harrison, Principal at Goole commented:

I’m delighted for Isaac.  He’s such a talented student and a great ambassador for the school! It’s been a real pleasure watching his interest grow and his talent develop during his time at Goole.

The Prom took place at Battersea Arts Centre on 30 July with pieces performed by the BBC Concert Orchestra conducted by Alice Farnham.

BBC Young Composer offers artistic and professional support for young composers aged 12 to 18 from across the UK as well as helping alumni launch their careers by connecting composers to commissioning opportunities at the BBC.

BBC Proms director, David Pickard said:

‘Seeing the talent that comes through BBC Young Composer is one of the highlights of my year, and I am delighted that we will be celebrating them with the first ever BBC Young Composer Prom in our 2022 season. The future of music is very bright, and I’m proud that this scheme continues to help develop the composers of the future.
